Tesla Motors

So Tesla Motors is opening it’s first dealership today.. Very cool. You get 220 miles per charge, It does 0-60 in under 4 seconds and gets the equivalent of 135 mpg… (Of course at $109,000 it’s going to be a while before the mileage per dollar really pays off.)

I like to see companies that understand that if they’re going to make very economical cars, they don’t have to look ugly as sin. I can’t understand why these manufacturers feel the that just because they’re making something that’s gets good mileage, it needs to be horribly ugly like the Prius, and even worse, things like the Smart Fortwo and the upcoming “Think City“.

I’m not saying that every economy car should look like a sports car, but it would be nice if they didn’t look totally stupid just so they stand out of the crowd.

I won’t be buying any $100,000.00 cars anytime soon, but I think it’s great that they’re pushing their way into a market dominated by gas hogging cars. Hopefully they’ll be successful, and that will encourage the established auto manufacturers to work on producing all electric cars that are both affordable, and nice looking.
